COVID-19 13/03/2020 Information for Parents/Carers
Dear parents and carers,
I am writing to you today with an update on Oasis’s response to the Coronavirus. We want to ensure that all of our students, staff and communities are well supported during this difficult time.
We are closely following the government’s advice on how to keep everyone safe and well. The advice from the Government has changed, and you can read this by accessing gov.uk.
Staying safe – Government guidance
The current advice is that if pupils are well they are to be in school. There is no national instruction to close schools.
· The advice around self-isolation has changed. If people have a consistent cough or their temperature exceeds 37.8 degrees, they are to self-isolate for 7 days. During self-isolation, people should not call NHS 111 unless their condition deteriorates.
· The single most important piece of advice continues to be around hand washing. This is highly significant in terms of stopping the spread of the virus.
We are asking everyone to help prevent the spread of the virus by completing the normal activities recommended to prevent the spread of infection (similar to those actions to prevent the spread of colds):
- Every member of the school community should be washing their hands often
- Covering coughs or sneezes with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the bin
We are ensuring that our academies are fully stocked with sanitiser and soaps, and each academy is sharing information on the virus with reminders for all pupils on handwashing and good hygiene.
The most important thing to us is the wellbeing of our pupils, staff and academy communities, and we will continue to follow the government’s guidance. This advice may change in the coming days and weeks, and we will send you updates via your child’s academy. Please also check the academy website where we will also be publishing our latest updates.
Thank you for your support and understanding on this important issue.
