Action for Children

Action for Children Separated Parents Information Programme – The Separated Parents Information Programme (SPIP) is a course designed to help separated parents become clear about what their children need most from them and learn the fundamental principles of how to manage conflict and difficulties, including how to put this into practice. You will need to contact your local provider which is Action for Children, Bristol Supporting Families if you would like to join a SPIP.

Alive 'n' Kicking

Healthy eating sessions for parents/ carers of children aged 2-4 years ‘Kick start a healthy future for your family’. Want to tackle fussy eating and understand portion sizes? Learn how to read food labels to make healthier choices? Want to make life easier for you and healthier for them? Join our free one hour a week programme for 6 weeks with other parents wanting to get their toddler off to a healthy start. Courses available in Avonmouth, Southmead, Lockleaze, Easton, Eastville, Bedminster. Knowle, Hengrove, Hartcliffe and Brislington.

Bristol Parent Carers

For families of children and young people with disabilities, special educational needs and life-limiting conditions; run by parent carers for parent carers, helping to shape services provided for our families. Who we are? We are a friendly and active group of parent carers of children and young people, 0-25 years, with disabilities, special educational needs, and life-limiting conditions. We come from different backgrounds and communities across Bristol. What we do? We work together as partners with Bristol City Council and NHS Bristol to shape the services provided for our families – this is called ‘parent carer participation’.

Carers Support Centre

We provide support, information and advice to carers living in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to a family member or friend who could not manage without this help due to frailty, illness, disability, mental ill-health or a substance misuse problem. Three out of five people in the UK will become carers at some time in their lives. What we do? We are dedicated to supporting the work of unpaid carers. Through a range of services including a confidential carers’ support line, a team of carer support offices, and a variety of workshops, training events aiming to provide information on services available to carers, support carers to access the help they need, involve carers in the planning and development of services and to offer practical support, counselling, carers’ breaks and holidays, emergency card and quarterly newsletters.

Childrens' Centres

Children and Family Centres - A Children’s Centre is an early years setting which provides a range of high quality family support, early learning and childcare services (where applicable) to local families. It will be sited on or close to a primary school wherever possible; services include day care (where applicable) and learning, family support services, child and family health services, parental involvement, links with Job Centre Plus, childminders, Early Years and Childcare plus city wide services.

Looking for a service for children, young people or families in Bristol? The Family information service provide free impartial information on the full range of childcare available for parents/carers and families to support their children up to their 20th birthday; help with advice about claiming benefits & entitlements, family support groups, free parent support courses, help with childcare costs, local events & activities and returning to work or training advice.

Trinity Arts

We are Trinity Community Arts - Our mission is to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to access and shape arts and culture in Bristol; we provide a progressive programme of live music and creative activities, as well as space for individuals to follow their passions and flexible facilities to suit almost any event or activity. Free Bus passes and Lunches provided for Makin’it Art – graffiti art, graphic and textile design and Makin’it Music – music performance, production and business classes – aimed at NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) young people aged 16-18 years.

Young Bristol

Young Bristol is a youth-driven charity that works to offer a choice of opportunities and experiences for all young people.
